Short: CPR Seals

July 7, 2011:

These metal straps are seals, used to seal the Canadian Pacific Railway's grain cars to prevent tampering or theft. The seal is threaded through the lock on the grain car, then the pointed end, at the top of this cluster, is inserted into the ball at hte lower end and pulled tight so that the seal has to be cut in order to get into the car.

These are hanging on the wall inside the office building at the Wynndel elevator, and in this photo you can see the original metal panelling on the wall.
