Short: Leg

July 19, 2011:

The leg of the elevator. This is like a vertical conveyor belt: the buckets move on a belt, scooping the grain up from the boot, or bottom of the leg, and carrying it up to the headworks at the very top of the elevator. As they move over the top of the leg, the buckets are inverted and dump the grain into the chute that carries the grain into the bins.
